Isn't the whole idea of dieting kind of silly?  Trying to lose weight with a quick fix that we put on through bad habits or laziness?
  • Re: Dieting bad?

I've certainly always found i put the weight back on as soon as i go off a diet.
  • Re: Dieting bad?

I know all that-  but it's always so seductive - "Lose 50 pounds in a week!" - you just have to try it!
  • Re: Dieting bad?

Don't shatter my illusions - I know that somewhere out there is the diet that will work for me! (and Mr. Right will be following right behind, bearing flowers and zero-cal chocs!)
  • Re: Dieting bad?

I'm always telling my friend that as she starts the latest magazine diet!

The dirty little secret they don't want you to know....I guess there's a big differecne between dieting and eating a good diet.
  • Re: Dieting bad?

    Hi:

Not only that, but by resricting calories too much you can slow your metabolism, so when you come off the diet you gain weight more easily than before.

  • Re: Dieting bad?

Im a testament to this, I've tried almost all the diets until I looked at them all and took all the sensible parts to each diet such as a good mix or green and root veg, brown rice, chicken with out the skin and a good helping of fish..I soon realised this was a HEALTHY DIET not a diet..I lost 3st over 6 months and a further 1st on the remaining 6 months...thats 4 stone over a year  and it's staying off..!! woo hoo Im on month 3 and I';ve remained the same weight evem though I've been a bit naughty with the old vino..!
  • Re: Dieting bad?

Absolutely, it's a lifestyle change if you want to get the weight off and keep it off.., or for a kick start diet...
  • Re: Dieting bad?

Of course.  But it feeds the illusion that THIS time we'll do it right - lose the weight then keep it off.
  • Re: Dieting bad?

i also get the same problem, i gain back more than i lost when i drop a diet
