    Hey all,

For years I have gone from 'BodyBuilding' to 'Running' from one to the other, I have listened to this expert and that expert, spent thousands on gym memberships and lined up on the treadmills like the good little hamster I am, getting advice from the 17year old gym instructor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well finally enough was enough, I needed something else. Whilst on a recent trip to the USA I came across a gym doing some crazy sessions, the gym was called crossfit. On my return I got searching, Crossfit is everything that I think the majority of us want. Only a few coaches deliver it in the UK and they are along way from me, but I did visit the establishment in Manchester so if you live in that area get yourselves down to the crossfit gym.

But the other day while looking at the main crossfit website a new affiliate has arrived, YIPPEE.......................... CrossfitDerby at last.... take a look... www.crossfitderby.com

The whole crossfit methodology is awsome. @ 44 years old I have finally found the answers to my true fitness goals.Big Smile

What is it exactly?  Circuit training, cross training?
  • Re: CrossFitDerby

It is a high intensity programme utilizing functional movements through the use of olympic weight-lifting, gymnastic based movements, running, jumping, pulling, pushing and really getting to grips with handling your own body weight.

A workout I did the other day was: a Thruster: this is a front squat and press above the head all in one single movement @ 40kg... followed straight away by pull-ups- chin above bar. @ 21 reps / 15 reps / 9 reps as fast as you can keeping good form. no resting between sets. It took me 18m 51sec, I was destroyed. some people do it in under 4min!!!

If you go to www.crossfitderby.com the site has loads of links and vids with info.

Hope this has helped? I thought I was fit until I did the above!!!!!!!!!!!

There's lots of variations on these high intensity resistance/circuit type training around right now, and I'd have to say they do work.  If you like a tough intense workout it's the way to go.
