Lots of articles talk about raw vegetables - I usually cook mine - does it matter that much if they are cooked or not?
  • Re: Raw or cooked?

I believe that many vegetables have more nutrients (vitamins etc) when they are raw, although there are exceptions (tomatoes maybe?).

Right.  Steaming is the best way to keep most of the nutrients in cooked vegetables.

Okay, I'm going to be a bit revolutionary here - but what about raw meat?  I love things like sushi and steak tartar - does anyone know if there are nutritional benefits to eating raw meat over meat that's been cooked?  I'll probably keep eating it anyway regardless - just curious.

Okay, of course it's my favourite food, so I'm predjudiced, but I heard that the less you interfere with food, the better it is for you - so raw meat's better than cooked meat, and the fresher the meat is, the better.

Not totally sure about that though, so I'll check it out.

     Long live Sashimi!

If you ever watch that show The Tribe you realise that people all over the world eat meat without cooking it - usually while it' still warm!
  • Re: Raw or cooked?

    It's mostly a cultural thing isn't it?

I know it's not very adventurous, but i like my steak well done and my fish cooked!
