    Hi folks,

I'm looking to get a bike or a cross trainer to use at home but not sure which is best. I'd like to lose some weight and tone up a bit.

    Any suggestions?

    Ta

    Simon

They're both good ways of losing weight/getting in shape, so what matters is which will you actually use.  which will fit in your house better, which do you like more?

    Hi Simon,

All things equal I would chose a crosstrainer, due to the fact that you are standing while using the crosstrainer, this alone assits in burning more calories as opposed to the bike where you will be seated. Just holding your body weight up alone will increase calorie burn.

wish i had the space to have a cross-trainer at home - what a great workout!

if you're tight on space, consider a mag trainer for a road bike - you can keep the bike in the garage, ride it outside when you want, then put it on the trainer when the weather's crap.  for less than the cost of a x-trainer you can have a good road bike and an indoor trainer.

A x trainer at home would be awesome - but it would take up a lot of space!

both are good, but it comes down to personal preference. some people like cycling so will buy a bike, others like whole body movement so will go for a x-trainer. both good though
