  • Spinning a waste of time?

I've been doing a spinning class for a few months now, and really like it, bit my friend said I'd be better off doing a 30 minute session of hard intervals on the bike and half an hour of weights rather than a 55 minute class - is that true?

I don't know if i'd say that!  It's a good workout, a lot longer and harder than people usually do by themselves - i think those are the big benefits.

I think the mix of intervals and weights is hard to beat, but spinning's a pretty good workout compared with many others.

I don't know anything about the technical stuff, but i do know i work harder in my spin class than in anything else i've ever done - by the end of the class i;m just a puddle on the floor!

Is it a perfect workout?  who knows.  but it's a pretty good one.

I think that's a good point.  It's a better workout than many people would do otherwise, I'd certainly not discourage anyone from doing it - but I'd suggest they also do weight training!

I teach 3 indoor cycling classes a week and have definately seen the benefits that my clients get through this class, as well as my own fitness of course.  Fitness training is something that is personal to each individual.

Thank heavens for variety!  I enjoy a psin class much more than the typical dance based stuff - each to their own.

    Hi,

I've just been looking online for how to train as a spinning instructor.  I've been going for about 5 years now & would love to train!  Do you know the best way for me to train etc?

    Thanks,

    Kayjay
