Hi
I really need some help I weighed 14 stones when I started training properly 2 months ago and now weigh 13st 4lbs.
The thing is I train 6 days a week and I normally go on the Step Mill for 30 minutes then I do free weights for 30 mins. I alternate the parts of my body I work each day as in I do upper body one day then lower body the next day.
I struggle on the step mill and sometimes cannot do the whole 30 mins.
I just feel that I am not seeing as much weight loss as I would like to and I am losing motivation to continue. I feel like I am killing myself and my body does not look like someone who excercises.
I also have a big tummy which I cannot seem to shift. Also my lower body is quite chubby, whilst my upper body is relatively small.
I just need someone to tell me which excercise will get me the results I need quickly as I am beginning to lose hope and think I am destined to be fat.
Hello there.
I'm personally really impressed that you've lost ten pounds over two months - that's about right for sustainable weight loss (1-2lb per week is good) and you've achieved that.
You should be really proud of yourself also for training for two months; you have more motivation than most!!
I am no expert, but to begin with it is worth mentioning that muscle does weigh more than fat, so you may not be losing as many pounds as you would like, but you may be more toned where you are doing the weights.
Do you enjoy the step mill? I personally dislike running, but am happy walking quickly, or doing a dance class, for example. Perhaps, if you're not enjoying this exercise, you might prefer bike riding or the rowing machine. Also, if you're struggling on the step mill why not alternate running and walking up hill/walking quickly so that you are doing aerobic for thirty minutes rather than stopping sooner? It's a good idea to build up running gradually, so might it be possible that you're expecting your body to achieve too much too soon?
Doing this type of training six times a week is a lot; could this maybe be why you're losing motivation to continue? Have you thought of doing this routine four times a week then maybe playing badminton/hiking, etc. on the other days to keep it varied?
While two months is a long time, losing weight and fat is a continuous process. You've done so well to lose the weight you have but any "chubby" or "big" areas will not disappear overnight. Unfortunately!! :-) But, generally, aerobic will help you lose fat and weights will tone muscle.
Like I said, I'm no expert but I personally get bored so have to do a variety of things. Perhaps you could exercise with friends also, to help get that motivation back. You're doing so well; don't give up!!
I hope this helps.
Thank you so much.
You have helped me so much.
