There is so much weight loss advice available out there, many people find it easier to choose and follow one of the many existing and often proven diet plans, rather than try to compile your own. In today's world, choosing from existing diet plans eliminates the need to spend your valuable time counting calories and reading up on various foods. If you do your homework you can choose diet plans that are backed up by accredited and reccommended nutritionalists, this means you can be assured that your weight loss plan provides all the vitamins and nutrients essential for a healthy body.

There are many diet plans to choose from out there. They may all seem different at first glance but the general principle is usually more or less the same. "to lose weight, you have to make sure you consume fewer calories than you spend in a day". They will probably have you eating different types of foods, most systems are arranged to control your calorie intake. So provided that the plan you choose is backed up by health professionals, and you stick to the diet as it's laid out, most weight loss regimes have similar results.

What's left then is to look at the diets available and choose the one you're most likely to stick with. The success of your diet is directly related to how it fits into your tastes and lifestyle. If you hate vegetables, then it's probably not a good idea to try a plan that insists that you eat a great deal of them. It's also usually a good idea to go for a diet that encourages you to eat in a balanced way and doesn't exclude any food groups. Lastly, it's generally counter-productive to try and combine the "best parts" from two or more different diets. Combining diets usually means you'll end up consuming too many calories.

I went on the Atkins for a while mostly cause I was bulking up - all the meat you could eat rocks but it's super expensive.  Recently my gf has been doing the GI diet and she's looking good.  I even eat that way when I'm over at her house and it's not bad - I still have more protein and stuff than her but I'm looking more defined so it's pretty good for both of us.  I think if your partner is doing a diet, it's easier if you both follow it so it's easier for them to follow it.  I don't mind as long as I can go out with the boys and have our weekly chicken wings and steaks.

Sensible eating is the real way forward and that iswhat  most diets are moving towards. Eating in moderation, learning portion size and having the odd treats make it a lifestyle change rather than this on/off regime that most people encounter.....
