I've just come back from a spa break and had more treatments than I can remember, most were really relaxing and therapeutic. However I had an aromatherapy session as they are normally quite expensive and I 've always wanted to try it...but I didn’t get anything from it not a sniff Wink Is this aromatherepy just a myth to keep lavender oil companies in business?Wink

Hi, I'm just browsing round lots of posts as am a fairly new login to this great web site..., but am quite familiar with aromatherapy... Smell is the most evocative of our senses and so helps us with things like remembering memories and visualizing things. Smell can affect all sorts of things, smelling peppermint or orange oil for example can alleviate nausea, lavender has relaxing properties, lemon oil has energizing effects. But smelling is not the only thing they can be used for, you can use them within a facial treatment, or body massage for example. So yes, it is a proven therapy, and so much so that pregnant women ,ust use them only as directed by their GP, as their effects can be powerful.

I'd think that at worst it's very relaxing, and that's not such a bad thing...

I use lavender oil on my pillow at night and i find it really helps me to sleep, probably because i now associate sleep with that smell because my mum used to put it in my bed when i was a child.

I definitely think aromatherapy works for relaxation, especially when coupled with a relaxing massage : )

    It does sound very relaxing.

I'm sure it's different for different people - I'm very sensitive to smell, so I love it, but my husband doesn't notice any smells at all, so it would probably be a big watse of time for him.

I think the best aromatherapy of all is the smell of freshly baked cookies!  Which is probably why I struggle with my diet plan....

I've never heard of anyone not enjoying aromatherapy!
