  • Time of day - does it matter?

i keep hearing different things about time of day - some people say you shouldn't eat late in the day (after 8 or 9 or whatever), and others say it doesn't matter - anyone have any thoughts?

i'm no expert, but i see all those lovely spanish women who eat dinner at 10 or 11 each night and can't help but think it's not a big deal.

I think that in the greater scheme of things it's what you eat and the exercise you get that make the big difference - of the things that are important, this would come way down the list.

That sounds right - you can pack in an awful lot of calories by 8:00!

Some people say dont eat after 8 and some say after 10

At the end of the day it depends on what time you go to bed on average.

If for example you go to bed at 11pm on average then you shouldnt eat anything after 9pm, always take away 2 hours before you go to bed and thats the time you should eat after!

It's what you eat and how much that make the real difference - i tihnk where the time of day thing comes in is for people who tend to snack in the evening - it can help to just not eat anything after a certain time.

I think we sometimes need those kind of rules to help us stick to things we know we should be doing.

One other problem with eating late at night is that depending on what you eat it can disturb your sleep patterns...sugary things with lots of caffeine keep you up, and if you eat too much too late, your digestive process interupts your sleep process...so that's something to keep in mind as well.

I think it's mostly about eating less becuase you have less hours in the day to eat!
