Vibration training was used by the Russians for their cosmonauts to be able to exercise in space. They had a problem with reduced bone density and loss of muscle tone through no resistance and they found that standing / changing position on a vibrating plate improved the situation dramatically.
It has taken a long time to come to market but you have a wide range of products like the PowerPlate - top end http://www.harrods.com/Cultures/en-GB/Categories/Power_Plate.htm/CS_BreadCrumbs/HarrodsComCatalogGB%3b0_Sports%28HarrodsComCatalog%29%3bEquipment_Power_PlateLP%28HarrodsComCatalog%29
to bottom end products costing from £130 ish. I bought mine from www.mendyourhealth.co.uk for £300 as a compromise and have been using it for a couple of months. The whole family have a go, for me its improved my muscle tone as an addendum to crosstraining, I've lost a bit of weight and the thighs, bum and tum are noticeably improved.
If you haven't tried one do, they're the easy starting point.
Having used a FLEXI-BAR for a couple of years now, I can highly recommend them. I had a shoulder injury for 2 years that left me unable to do a pushup, or chest fly etc. Apparently I had torn my bicep insertion!! The FLEXI-BAR fixed my shoulder within a month, and in the 3 years since have not had a problem.
My wife also got a double slipped disc, and with the help of a FLEXI-BAR was able to get it under control in less than 4 months. As long as she does one session every 10 days, she is fine.
For the price, the FLEXI-BAR is excellent value.......& I can take it away on holidays with me!!
The flexibar sounds great as a newbie - but going back to the vibration plates (powerplate) all sounds to good to be true - combined with Slendertone you'd get tight tummy muscles and burn off the fat / tone up with powerplate - the amount of exercise you've done is f-all IMO.
So the above is a great fix to look good on the outside, but it's a lazy 'Man's' way to appear as though you are fit. Get out there an do some freeweights and rowing to go with it - then you can talk about fitness and working out.
just my 2c's!
