Does it make oyu go orange like the other tans? and does it have a smell?

I am thinking of having a spray tan done before I go on holiday, but am worried that it will end up looking patchy due to the sea or pool water. Has anyone tried this before their hols, it would be difficult to disguise patchy skin in a bikini wouldn't it...?
